Just 2 more days!

Our store will be open 2 more days- and we have lots of great gift ideas (and fabulous prices) for those last minute shoppers! It is a bit sad for me to close the store but I am staying (at least trying) focused on the future. Don't forget to check out our new, easy to use web store on January 1st. Plus, see the story of our closing on Hill on The Avenue- http://hillontheavenue.com/hill-tea-bar-moves-online-closing-shop-dec-23
Best Wishes for a Happy Holiday and Prosperous New Year!

Transitioning in 2010!

We made the hard decision in September that our bricks and mortar store was not following the path of our business plan. The original plan was to have a primary focus on premium, loose leaf tea and provide education about the amazing health benefits of tea. The Chestnut Hill location we selected for our store was so charming that we soon found ourselves really veering off the path of loose leaf tea into the territory of restaurant management. We are closing our store on 12/23/2009 andlaunching a full-service, secure web store on 1/1/2010. Our web store will be chock full of over 100 premium tea varieties- and many new custom blends. You will even be able to book a "tea party to go" online. Customers who do not like online shopping will be able to find our "best sellers" at Lemons and Limes in Chestnut Hill (just a few steps from our current location). The good news is that our online prices will be lower than our present in-store pricing (even with shipping it is less!). I will be teaching a series on The History and Health Benefits of Tea in January at Montgomery County Community College and also at Philadelphia Community College- enrollment is open now for both classes!

The effects of L-Theanine are clinically proven!

Have you ever wondered why the caffeine in tea does not make you jittery like your favorite coffee latte? The answer is L-Theanine. L-Theanine is an amino acid that is formed in the root of the tea bush and is transported into the leave. Young tea leaves show a higher L-Theanine content- calling all white tea lovers! It acts antagonistically against the stimulating effect of caffeine.

The clinically proven effects of L-Theanine:

Provides strong relaxing properties by stimulating the production of alpha brain
waves
 Reduces stress and anxiety
 Strengthens the immune system

During this season of stress and anxiety don't forget to drink your tea each day!
